James Simpson
Optometrist, Dip Optom (SA)
James qualified in Johannesburg in 1988 and brings valuable experience from practising in the United Kingdom and in his two practices in South Africa.
He brought his young family to Australia in 1999 and was a keen competition squash and hockey player before turning more recently to the addictive world of cycling.
Renita Chou
Optometrist, B.Optom Hons (UNSW)
After graduating from UNSW with first class Honours in 1999, Renita spent her first year in Perth’s
Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital before returning to Canberra.
She soon developed a keen interest in vision training and disease detection,
and obtained her therapeutic qualification in 2012.
Renita takes appointments on Tuesdays.
Wayne Strudwick
Optometrist, B.Optom (UNSW)
Wayne graduated from UNSW in 1992 and has been practising optometry in Canberra for over 22 years.
He completed his ocular therapeutics training through the Australian College of Optometry in 2016 and has developed a strong interest in the treatment
of eye diseases.
Wayne is also passionate about dry eye therapy, contact lens fitting, myopia control in children and the co-management of glaucoma.
Outside of Optometry, Wayne is a slightly obsessed distance runner, having completed many marathons and ultra-trails. He loves reading and is currently studying for a masters in creative writing.
Jenny Wu
Optometrist, B.Optom (UNSW)
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Optometry (UNSW) in 2008, Jenny has practised in regional NSW, Melbourne, Canberra, and in remote communities in WA. She has completed a Certificate of Ocular Therapeutics
to prescribe eye medications,
and a clinical Optometry Masters Degree (UNSW)
with a focus on specialty contact lenses.
She is passionate about keratoconus, myopia control, orthokeratology, and dry eye management.
Outside the consulting room, Jenny enjoys growing food in her veggie garden, photography, and running after her two young children.
Kym Balcomb
Optometrist, B.Optom
Kym initially qualified in South Africa in 1999 before moving to the United Kingdom where she furthered her qualifications in Independent Prescribing, Glaucoma, Medical Retina, and Paediatrics at Cardiff University, Wales, and Caledonian University, Scotland.
Kym has worked as a Hospital Optometrist in Devon, England, and in private practice in Dunedin, New Zealand.
She moved to Australia in 2017, settling into Canberra with her husband and animals.
